Tito is now 12 years old, and his birthday is coming up soon! Unlike most cats whose birthdays are a mystery, I know his exact birth date – because I was there when his mother, a pregnant stray, walked into my garage twelve years ago and decided it was the perfect spot to bring her kittens into the world.

Rescue Kitten Story – A Pregnant Guest in the Garage

One day, a heavily pregnant cat wandered into my garage. Of course, I did what any cat lover would do – I welcomed her with open arms. I set up food, water, a litter box, and soft blankets in hidden corners, giving her plenty of cozy spots to choose from.

This wasn’t my first rodeo with feline guests. In just three years of living there, two other pregnant strays had also chosen my garage as their maternity ward. And honestly, I was honored.

She was calm, trusting, and absolutely beautiful – a young, healthy-looking calico cat with mesmerizing patches of orange, black, and white. Naturally, I named her Mauva, because every cat that came into my life deserved a name.

The Day Tito Was Born

Just a few days later, on May 7th, Mauva gave birth to five tiny, adorable kittens. And right there, among the fluffy newborns, was Tito – a tiny black and white kitten, already full of energy and personality.

From the very beginning, Tito was the smallest of the litter but also the loudest. Oh, how he had opinions! He meowed louder than his siblings, demanded attention constantly, and had a way of making sure everyone knew he was in the room. And honestly? Not much has changed. 😆

Finding Forever Homes for the Kittens

Since I couldn’t keep them all (tempting as it was), I immediately started taking photos of the kittens and began searching for loving homes. Over the next three months, each kitten found their forever home – and even Mauva was adopted! It was bittersweet to say goodbye, but I knew they were all going to be loved and cared for.

All except one kitten.

Tito.

No one asked for Tito.

Why Did No One Want Tito?

I couldn’t understand it. He was adorable, playful, and full of personality. I took hundreds of photos, videos, wrote descriptions, and asked around – but for some reason, no one was interested. Maybe it was because he was the runt. Maybe his bold personality was too much for some. Or maybe, just maybe, he was meant to stay.

For six months, I actively looked for someone to adopt him. And then, one day, I just stopped looking.

Tito Finds His Forever Home

At that point, Tito had already decided I was his human. He followed me everywhere, played with my shoelaces, demanded belly rubs (then immediately regretted it), and made a mess daily. He was part of the family.

So, I took him to the vet, got him vaccinated, neutered, and officially welcomed him into my life.

From that moment on, Tito became my shadow, my partner in crime, and the king of my household. And he has been making a glorious mess since 2013. 😹

Life with Tito – The Chaos Never Ends

Tito has grown from a tiny troublemaker into a full-grown troublemaker. He still loves to talk (sometimes at 3 AM when the world is asleep). He still demands attention whenever I sit down to work. He still thinks cardboard boxes are superior to luxury cat beds (don’t we all, though?).

Despite his sassy, dramatic personality, he is the most loving, loyal cat. He greets me at the door, knows exactly when it’s mealtime, and still curls up on my lap like he did as a kitten.

Would I change anything about him? Not a chance.
