The Opera Air mascot cat – inspired by the beloved street cats of Istanbul – is getting her official name tomorrow. After hundreds of votes from cat lovers worldwide, the reveal is finally here.
Cats Magazine friends, today I’m bringing you a small but exciting teaser.
Tomorrow, the Opera Air cat will officially receive her name after hundreds of votes from cat lovers around the world. She’s the mindful little traveler you’ve seen floating inside the Opera Air browser… and tomorrow she becomes someone. I love these moments when the online cat community comes together for something light, warm, and meaningful.
As many of you know, I’ve volunteered for years in cat and dog shelters and worked closely with rescue groups. I’ve seen animals neglected, injured, abandoned and rescued by people who pour everything they have into saving lives. I’ve also seen how burned out rescuers can become – emotionally, physically, financially.
Rescue work is often invisible, done late at night, done out of personal pockets, done by people who love animals enough to break their own hearts repeatedly.
That’s why I believe so deeply in projects that make it easy for people to help. Not everyone can foster a cat, volunteer in a shelter, or pay for medical bills – but everyone can do small things that make a difference.
Opera Air is one of those rare cases. Supporting the browser costs nothing, yet it helps amplify awareness and shine a light on community cats and the people who care for them. Behind the cute mascot and calm design, there is a real story – one rooted in kindness and inspired by the streets of Istanbul.
If you’ve ever visited Istanbul, you know the city is practically a cat kingdom. Cats roam freely through parks, markets, seaside promenades, and ancient neighborhoods. They are fed by locals, warmed by café owners, photographed by tourists, and occasionally tucked into tiny handmade shelters or cardboard boxes decorated with love.

Opera Air’s mascot was directly inspired by these “citizens of Istanbul.” Their little red cat houses appear all over the city, providing comfort, safety, and shelter in winter. Some of them were even decorated with Opera’s artwork – a sweet detail that connects the digital and physical worlds in a way cat lovers immediately feel.
Istanbul is a city where cats weave through daily life like living symbols of calm. You’ll find them sunbathing on worn stone steps, dozing between fishing boats, or supervising entire parks with the confidence of furry mayors. That atmosphere – this unique relationship between people and their community cats – is exactly what inspired the Opera Air mascot.
