Cats Magazine I'm Silvia, your go-to Cat Whisperer and a lifetime member of the "Rescue, Adopt, Repeat" club.

Meet Silvia: Founder, Photographer, and Lifelong Cat Rescuer

Greetings, fellow cat enthusiasts! I’m Silvia – the heart and paws behind Cats Magazine – and a proud lifelong member of the “Rescue, Adopt, Repeat” club. From dumpster-diving kittens to wise old alley cats, I’ve spent years turning rags into riches for the cats who needed it most.

Welcome to Cats Magazine, where every story is another page in my personal love letter to cats. If you’re curious about who I am and how this all started, you can read more about it here.

How It All Began: A Camera, a Cat Shelter, and a Cause

You might be wondering why a professional photographer is prowling around the world of cat rescue. It all began in 2012, when I turned my lens toward a local dog shelter – one that also gave refuge to cats. By 2014, I was the unofficial photographer for a friend’s foster-based cat rescue, documenting stories that often went unseen.

Because here’s the truth: every cat, whether lounging in a sunny window or surviving in the shadows, deserves their moment in the spotlight. Through photos and stories, I wanted to give them a voice. And that voice grew into Cats Magazine.

Life with Cats: From Three to Fourteen (and Back Again)

My husband and I currently share our home with three incredible cats, all of whom were once rescues. At one point, that number was fourteen – yes, fourteen! But no worries, we weren’t hoarders, just enthusiastic foster parents with big hearts and an even bigger litter box budget.

Those years gave me a deep well of firsthand knowledge – from kitten care to chronic illnesses, from joyful adoptions to heartbreaking goodbyes. And that’s what I share with you here – real experience, real love, real lessons.

Our Mission: Raising Awareness and Taking Action

Cats Magazine isn’t just about adorable stories and cute photos. We’re on a real mission to improve the lives of cats everywhere. Learn more about our mission here.

We proudly support SOS Cat Rescue Croatia, a small team doing big work – rescuing, treating, and rehoming stray cats across the region. But here’s the thing: I’m not just trying to raise awareness. I’m trying to raise real funds. Here’s how you can help:

  • Shop cat T-shirts on TeePublic
  • Browse home décor & cat lover gifts on Redbubble
  • Donate through Ko-fi (connected directly to SOS Cat’s bank account)
  • Support emergency winter help via WhyDonate

Every purchase or donation goes directly toward food, medical care, shelter, and spay/neuter efforts. It’s more than cute – it’s life-saving.

Want to Write for Cats Magazine?

If you’re a passionate cat lover, storyteller, or rescue enthusiast, I’d love to hear from you. Cats Magazine is always open to guest writers who want to share tips, tales, or thoughtful reflections.

I’ll be honest – this is still a passion-fueled, independent project, and I’m not able to pay contributors right now. But your words will reach a growing audience of cat lovers, and your voice can make a difference. If you’d like to collaborate, get in touch here.

Let’s Connect Beyond the Magazine

You’ll find Cats Magazine not just here, but also on social media – sharing stories, updates, memes, and rescue calls across:
