Meet Inara – The Newly Named Cat Mascot of Opera Air
Today I finally get to share the news so many of you were waiting for:
the Opera Air cat mascot has an official name – Inara.
And yes, the story of Opera Air Inara already feels like something magical.
If you’ve used Opera Air in the past weeks, you’ve already met her. She’s the mindful little digital traveler who naps in the corner of your screen, stretches like she owns the place, meditates with perfect posture, and sometimes just appears with the quiet confidence of a cat who knows the world is hers.
And now, after hundreds of votes globally, she has a name worthy of her calm personality.
The community chose it – and I love that, because a cat with so much personality deserves a name chosen with intention.
You know how it goes…
A stray cat wanders into your life for just a moment – you feed her once, you give her a name “just so you know who you’re talking to”… and suddenly she’s not really a stray anymore. She becomes yours in that quiet, invisible, magical way that only cats know how to manage.
That’s exactly how Inara arrived in Opera Air – softly, quietly, and suddenly she belonged.
A tiny digital visitor at first… and now a named companion, already feeling like part of the family.
Why “Inara”? A Name Filled With Light, Calm, and Ancient Stories
What I love most about this name is that it carries meaning from several cultures.
In ancient Hittite mythology, Inara was the protector of wild animals – serene, strong, and deeply connected to nature. In other traditions, especially Arabic, her name means:
- illumination
- shining light
- enlightenment
- a ray of light
And that is exactly how she feels in the browser – a tiny spark of calm in a chaotic digital world.
Opera Air Inara isn’t just a mascot; she’s a presence.
She doesn’t demand attention. She doesn’t distract. She just… exists. Peacefully.
Like a cat.

Why This Cat Matters – And How She Might Change Your Day
As someone who’s spent years volunteering in shelters and working with rescues, I’m naturally drawn to projects that bring compassion into everyday life – especially digital life, which can feel so rushed.
Opera Air surprised me in the best possible way.
With Opera Air Inara appearing on the screen, that reminder to pause becomes even gentler.
Because this browser does something unusual:
It reminds you to pause, breathe, take a break… and maybe even play with your real-life cats.
There were moments when I was typing intensely, deadlines spinning in my head, and suddenly Inara quietly stretched in the corner. And I thought:
“Okay… she’s right. Break time. Tito, Pierre, Myratz – where are you?”
